Special School Setting

Ali was referred to CENMAC for help with his access to speech output devices, and to increase his control of environmental systems and activities through the computer.  He was loaned a switch, mounted sideways on an angle as shown; a simple communication aid; a switch mains adaptor and a USB switch adaptor.  Ali has learned that pressing his switch gives him choices, depending on what his switch is connected to. This could be a mains powered device such as a fan or bubble blower; or a switch adapted toy; a message recorded onto his communication aid; or perhaps an interactive story on the PC.  Ali is working on his concept of learning to scan through different choices presented on the PC, to give him more variety and independence.
