To set up the programme for a switch user, go to Options > User Access > One or two switch scan
This brings up a dialogue box. (See below for one switch and two switch settings.)

Clicking on the Edit boxes on the right hand side allows you to change the settings.
- Scan delay – time the scan highlight remains on the cell.
- Acceptance delay – time the switch has to be held down before the programme will notice it.
- Debounce delay – time that has to elapse between switch presses.
You have to set the order in which the cells are scanned individually for each grid set.
Make your grid set.
In Edit Mode, go to Grid > Cell groups
This brings up a dialogue box that allows you to group the cells in the way you want them scanned. It also allows you to decide whether you want the toolbars scanned as well or just the grid.

Clicking on Settings allows you to change functions such as whether you want the scan to return to the beginning of the grid after a choice has been made.
The default setting on this is a simple scan. If you want a more complex scan for a particular user, you will have to set it for all of their grids.
Using a switch without scanning (using a Crick Switch Box)
To turn the pages in an on-screen book without scanning the buttons:
Set the User Access dialogue box (see above) to ‘None’.
Set the USB Keys software to the following settings:
Switch 1 Ctrl-Page Down (turns to the next page in the book)
Switch 2 Ctrl-Page Up (turns to the previous page)
Switch 3 Ctrl-End (reads the text box content)
To make the scan continue from the last choice rather than defaulting back to starting at the beginning again.
Create a new grid set. You are going to use this as a template.
Edit Mode
Grid menu > Cell groups > Settings
Selection Behaviour > Set pull down menu to Resume from current position
Exit Edit Mode
File menu > Save grid set as > Clicker 5 template
The settings that you have chosen will remain attached to the grid set which you can then edit in whichever way you choose.
